Thoughtful window coverings for modern living

Drapery Measuring.

Measure your window, rod or track with confidence. Choose your curtain heading style to see where to measure and estimate the finished size for each panel.

Measure once.
Order with confidence.

For the most accurate result, install your curtain rod or track before taking final measurements. Different headings hang from different reference points, so the correct starting point matters as much as the window size.

This guide uses inches to match the size options shown in our curtain collection. The calculator is a planning aid; always check the product's available sizes and any heading-specific instructions before ordering.

01Measure the hardware

Use the usable rod or track span when it is already installed.

02Use the right drop point

Soft Top, Pleated, Grommet and Ripple Fold headings do not all hang from the same point.

03Plan the panel split

Decide whether you need one panel or a pair opening from the centre.

Find your curtain measurements.

Complete the steps below to calculate an estimated width and length per panel.

ALL MEASUREMENTS IN INCHES
STEP 1 Choose your drapery heading

Select the style you plan to order. This changes the correct hanging reference point for length.

STEP 2 Is your rod or track installed?

Our recommendation: install the rod or track first whenever possible. It gives you a more reliable width and hanging height.

STEP 3 Measure your installed rod / track
STEP 4 Choose your panel and finish

Where should you measure from?

The top of the fabric is not always the hanging point. Use the reference that matches your selected heading.

01

Soft Top

Measure the length from the top of the rod down to the floor.

02

Pleated

Measure from the bottom of the rod-ring eyelet or track runner down to the floor.

03

Grommet

Measure from the top of the rod down to the floor.

04

Ripple Fold

Measure from the bottom of the track down to the floor.

Should I install the rod or track before measuring?+
Yes. For the most accurate result, install the rod or track first. You can then measure the actual usable width and the correct hanging point down to the floor.
What if my rod or track is not installed yet?+
Measure the outside width of the window frame and plan how far the rod or track will extend beyond each side. A common starting range is about 6–15 inches on each side, subject to the wall space and nearby obstructions. Treat the finished length as an estimate until the hardware is installed.
How do I measure length for each heading style?+
For Soft Top and Grommet, measure from the top of the rod to the floor. For Pleated, measure from the bottom of the ring eyelet or track runner. For Ripple Fold, measure from the bottom of the track.
What is the difference between a single panel and split panels?+
A single panel covers the full planned width. Split panels use two panels that meet near the centre. The calculator shows the recommended width for each individual panel.
What does fabric fullness mean?+
Fullness compares the flat fabric width with the rod or track width. A fuller curtain uses more fabric and creates deeper folds. The calculator lets you compare 1.5×, 2× and 2.5× estimates; check the product or heading instructions before choosing.
What does “just touching the floor” or “slight puddle” mean?+
Above-floor length leaves a small gap for easier cleaning. Touching the floor creates a neat finish. A puddle adds a little extra fabric so it rests on the floor. The calculator uses a 1-inch adjustment for the puddle estimate; choose the finish you prefer.
What if the recommended size is not listed?+
Choose the closest available size only after checking the product details. For an exact or made-to-measure requirement, contact our team about custom curtains and share your measurements.
