Condos and rental homes can have different window sizes, ceiling heights and installation rules. A little planning before choosing curtains can make it easier to select a suitable style without adding unnecessary complexity.
Check mounting permissions
Before drilling or installing a track, review lease conditions, strata or condominium rules and any landlord requirements. Where drilling is not permitted, ask whether an approved tension, ceiling or other non-invasive mounting option is suitable for the window and product weight.
Use height to shape the room
Where permitted, mounting a curtain track higher than the window frame can create a more continuous vertical line. Make sure the finished length clears floor vents, heaters and doors, and confirm there is enough space for brackets and track hardware.
Consider stack-back space
In compact rooms, a curtain that stacks outside the glass can preserve more daylight when open. Check how much wall space is available at each side and whether nearby furniture or a balcony door will interfere.
Choose care requirements that suit the home
Check the fabric's care label and consider how frequently it will need cleaning. Avoid assuming that a fabric can be machine washed unless the product instructions say so.
Measure each window separately and include photographs of unusual frames or obstructions when requesting a custom quote.
